Church Webs Made Simple

You are here: Communications & Technology > Church webs made simple

This sub-web of Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church reflects the content of the training provided at the 2005 Annual District Training event for Atlanta-Decatur-Oxford and Emory-Atlanta Districts of the United Methodist Church. You can access prior years' content via the menu at left.

Assumptions

Making a church web site a "simple" process carries with it some assumptions about the person who is the web page editor. That person should:

  • Have a basic knowledge of how to use computer software.

  • Have a positive outlook.

  • Be a willing member of the church's communications team.

  • Be willing to learn simple new techniques.

  • Have web page editing software available for use, whether at home or on a church computer.

The links in the top part of the left column menu are an outline of the 2005 training topics. The "Training presentation outline" is the PowerPoint outline shown at the 2005 training session. It's a single file that a web browser can read -- you don't need PowerPoint to view it. This file was an easy export from Microsoft PowerPoint 2003.

Under the 2005 training links is a link to an index of prior years' church technology training by the author. That page also contains links to church web sites in both districts.  Take a look at the different web sites to get ideas for your own church's web.
