2006: Church Webs - Beyond the Basics
2004: Communications & Technology in the Local Church
Sending information about your church and its events and people to media outlets can be challenging. There are many outlets, each with its own publishing schedule and many with their own desired formats.
Most media outlets now accept and many prefer, emailed news releases, though they may accept mailed or FAXed ones too. The document links below provide some tips about news releases.
A good technique is to physically look at the print publications in your area and see what types of information they are likely to carry about your church. Also, look for the name, phone number, and email address of any editorial contact at each publication.
You can locate a lot of local media via a search engine such as Google. And many of even print media now have a web site. You might be able to get information about their staff contacts there. Media web sites also often have details about submitting to them.
