Spreading the gospel

14How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them, if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them? 15And how can anyone tell them without being sent by the Lord? The Scriptures say it is a beautiful sight to see even the feet of someone coming to preach the good news. [CEV]
  — Romans 10:14-15

Receive the Gospel

If you do not yet know Christ, there is no better time to start learning about Him than now.  Everyone needs to hear the good news. Contact us, attend a worship service, read the Bible, attend a "Sunday School" class, talk with Christians, ...  There are lots of ways to get your feet wet.  You'll be glad you did.

And if you already attend church, perhaps you haven't really studied the Bible in a while. Try participating in Adult Bible classes. An excellent program aimed at both study of the Bible and change in our lives is the Disciple program.  While this is sponsored by the United Methodist Church, all are welcome to join a Disciple group.

Ephesians 6:4
"...bring [your children] up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

Live the Gospel

Avoid becoming a person who knows much (Bible Study) but practices little (DiscipleShip and outreach).  Live a life filled with the Holy Spirit. That way, all who meet you will know that you are a follower of Jesus, the Christ.

Share the Gospel - personal witnessing

Don't wait until you're "perfect", feel totally comfortable, or "know a lot about the Bible".  All Christians are on a long journey.  So be bold, as Paul says.  Communicate your joy and peace of being a Christian to others.  Share what a big part of your life your church is.

If you are unsure of yourself, as many are, start with little things.  Wear a piece of religious jewelry to work -- a cross necklace, a "fish" tie tack, etc. Related amusing or heart-warming anecdotes of your church worship, special church events, and retreats. Be yourself and just casually include the religious parts of your life when you talk with others.
