Picnic Lunch
On Sunday of Labor Day weekend, we'll have a hot dog "cookput" style lunch. Join us at the Fellowship Hall area.
Weekly "Church Notes"
We offer a short weekly (usually) email message that highlights a few coming events. We automatically send this to members.
Visitors and friends of APUMC can also get it -- on request. Just contact us.
Serve!
"When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me, and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me."
-- Matthew 25:35-36 (CEV)

Help quench another's thirst
You can help others on Labor Day by joining us to hand out water bottles at the Avondale Estates Labor Day Race.
The race registration starts at 7:30am. The first race starts at 8:30am.
If you are interested in helping, contact us.
Lend a Helping Hand locally
Serve others by helping some of our own members.
Ask anyone in the Missions "Work Area" (aka Committee) about "Helping Hand" and how you can give of your time and skills. Or Contact us.

Grow!

Soul food!
Just as you cannot thrive by eating food only one day a week, you cannot grow spiritually unless you are "feeding" yourself outside of Sunday Worship.
"I sat on the couch with my Bible and sipped the hot [chocolate], savoring each swallow. Then it dawned on me that what I was doing with my morning hot chocolate was exactly what I should do with the Word of God. As I drank my hot chocolate, it becomes a part of me. So should I be with God's word. I should sip and savor, be warmed and fed." -- Carole Mayhall

Pray!
Pray for ...
- The refugee family from Myanmar. Though we have helped furnish an apartment for them, They are "aliens" in a strange land.
- Families affected by the horrendous oil still spilling into the Gulf of Mexico.
- Those who do not yet know the love of Jesus.
- Shut-ins and those who are ill or recuperating.
"When life knocks you to your knees -- well, that's the best position in which to pray, isn't it?" -- Ethel Barrymore
