Mission News from MulungwishiJune 2004,
We want to take a few lines to impart to you the happiness that we are participating in this month. Indeed, we are in the States for the month of June in order to share in a special event in each of our three children’s lives. Andrew graduated from the University of Colorado – Denver in film, the end of May. He will be staying on for the time being here in Denver. He has been directing a sitcom pilot that he and friends produced. They hope it will be “picked up” by the networks. He also works as an office manager in a plastics company. Amber graduated on the 12th from Seattle Pacific University in Psychology. Our family along with Dad Persons was able to be with her as they celebrated in the Sea Hawks Stadium. Fortunately, it didn’t rain!!! until about an hour after the ceremony was over!!! In between graduation events, Amber was checking out students out if the apartments. She has been an RA for forty-one students this past year. We kept busy packing her up and moving her to another apartment. She is looking at different jobs but is interested in working at the Children’s Hospital in Seattle. She had had a good experience there when she was doing her practicum in psychology. Our next celebration will be Michelle and Jeff getting married on the 24th. We are happy to welcome Jeff into our family. They have known each other since college. This fall, Michelle will return to teaching first and second grade combination at Foothills Elementary School and Jeff as a student recruiter for Colorado Christian University. We are planning for them to go back to Congo with us in July for three weeks. Michelle has always wanted to be married in the Mulungwishi Church with her African family. We thank you for your prayers for our family at this special time. Please continue to pray for the Church in Congo and the ministry in Mulungwishi. The Seminary will be having graduation June 27.There will 16 families graduating. Pray for them as they go into the ministry. July begins annual conferences in 4 different regions of our southern province. Be praying for the peace process in the Congo. There is still much unrest as different factions are positioning for power and outside countries continue to plunder and obtain Congo’s mineral riches. As in all power plays it is always the innocent that suffer and get hurt. We want to express our continual gratitude to each one of you. Your love, your prayers and your support have been a real source of blessing to us as we labor together for the Lord in this part of His Kingdom.
